Written Estate Agents Examination Part I & Part II – Q&A

Q: What are the procedures to become an estate agent?
A: One is required to pass both Part I & Part II of the estate agent’s exam and the TPC before one becomes eligible to be registered as an estate agent.

Q: When is the date of examination?
A: Usually in June or July depending on the availability of halls.

Q: What are the fees involved?
A: RM50.00 processing and RM50.00 per subject.

Q: What are the minimum entry requirements?
A: Candidate must possess an SPM/MCE with not less than 5 subject passes of which at least 3 shall be credit level passes and at least 1 of the credit level passes shall be Mathematics or Science or Accounts or Commerce, or Any other higher qualifications recognized by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam or Lembaga Akreditasi Negara.

Q: Can I apply for exemptions?
A: Yes, if the diploma or degree is recognized by the Board.

Q: What are the recognized diplomas/ degrees?
A: Please refer to the board website which displays the entire list.

Q: Can I self study?
A: Yes, you may.

Q: When does it open for registration?
A: 2 nd January until 2 nd May every year.

Q: How many subjects are there in both Part I & Part II?
A: Each part consists of 6 subjects.

Q: Can one take only a few subject and not all 6 subjects?
A: Yes, may take one or two subjects provided all 6 subjects shall be complete within 3 years

Q: Where can I get the registration form?
A: At the Board’s office.

Q: Would I be exempted from the Estate Agent’s Written Examination on a subject to subject basis?
A: No. Exemption will only be given for Parts.

  1. I would like to sit for ”the Estate Agents Exam”, however, I had finished Japanese University only. In this case, could you advise whether I could satisfy the eligibility for taking this exam or not.

  2. (1) if i pass more than 5 subject,i got a credit in mathematic,but i jus have 2 credit for the spm result,so can i still go for the MIEA exam?
    (2) if i got certificate for insurance,does it an advantage for the MIEA examination ?
    (3) if i go for courses like diploma in Real Estate,does it helps in the MiEA exam?

    You may try contact Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (03-8885 3365/60/61) or Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (03-7968 7002/57/33) to find out whether your education qualification is being recognised in Malaysia. If yes, then you may take the exam.

    If your SPM results does not meet the minimum entry requirements, any other higher qualifications recognized by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (03-8885 3365/60/61) or Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (03-7968 7002/57/33) will be helpful. Diploma will be under higher qualifications category.

  5. if i don have any higher qualification,just SPM with 2 credit (1 in Math).
    Then i got cerificate in insurance .for example life insurance and investment link, does it helps?
    if cannot,then can i still go for the exam/courses ?

    I am a business studies student and had graduated since year 2005.I studied my degree course which is offered by University Of Herforshire,United Kingdom.I have 5 years working experience in financial and property line.

    Am i eligible to register as real estate agent?Another question,once i completed all the exam papers,do i eligible to set up my own real estate company in the future?What is the procedures?

    1.I have a MBA in marketing , can i bring foreigners as buyer?
    2.I wanna setup real estate company what is the requirement ?
    3.Can i buy raedy made company for this purpose?
